Welcome to the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District's Nutrition Department! We are so happy to serve you. Our Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support classroom learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices because good nutrition and learning go hand-in-hand. We serve approximately 300 meals at each meal period for a total of approximately 600 meals per day. We have 3 kitchen staff members and 1 full-time Restaurant Occupations teacher.

All meals, foods, and beverages sold or served in our cafeteria meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We strive to provide our students with access to a variety of affordable, appealing, and culturally diverse foods that meet their health and nutrition needs.

We take great pride in our Restaurant Occupations classes whose students actively participate in the preparation of meals and menus. Through this program our students learn not just career skills but healthy eating habits that will last them a life-time. Our students are all safe-serve certified allowing them to take a hands on roll in the daily operation of our kitchen. Many of our from-scratch menu items are made entirely by our students.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
