Mrs. Yarnell and Family at Yellowstone National Park
I have the privilege of teaching, yet another year, here in the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District. My teaching career began here in 1983 as a Home Economics teacher and my position evolved into teaching Health to Freshmen on the Santa Ynez campus and Electives at our Refugio High School campus. I attended and graduated from Santa Barbara City College and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for my
Bachelor of Science degree and Teaching Credential. I am married and have two terrific children ages 18 and 15, life is good.
I am on the Refugio campus ODD days for one period. Students will work independantly on the topic they selected at the first of the semester. It will be important for students to communicate with me, if they have questions or concerns, during the time I am on campus or via email listed above. It will be important for students to use classtime wisely in order to complete the needed credits.
The elective courses I provide are Child Development, Family Living, Foods & Nutrition, Housing & Interior Design and Home Ec. Survey. The classes provided will cover many life skills which students should be able to apply to their everyday lives. Students will be able to earn up to 10 credits in each course. Credits will be earned with the combination of textbook/packet work and project type assignments. Individual descriptions of course credits will be explained in the website tab for each course.
