2009 - 2010 FOCUS GOALS
 

Culture

Goal #1:           Develop and maintain a culture of open communication and collaboration among all stakeholders through:

·         A student-centered focus on growth and achievement

·         A district-wide celebration of accomplishments

·         A shared demonstration of responsibility and accountability

·         An increased responsiveness to individuals within our community

 

Student Achievement

Goal #1:           All student subgroups will pass the CAHSEE, meeting annual AYP targets.

 

Goal #2:           Santa Ynez Valley Union High School will achieve an API rating of 826 or above, and Refugio High School will improve its API rating by 10 points, or achieve an API rating of 621.

 

Goal #3:           Ongoing professional development in the use of student achievement data, technology, and AVID strategies will be used as methods to continually improve classroom instruction for at-risk and high performing students alike.

 

Goal #4:           District schools will provide instructional programs that are built around the needs of students, featuring school-wide pyramids of intervention.

 

Finance

Goal #1:           The district will present the Board of Education with a student-centered, balanced budget that is aligned with technological and instructional goals, and includes a plan to continue rebuilding reserve levels by June 30, 2010.

 

Goal #2:           Review current services and practices for cost effectiveness, maximizing existing revenues and seeking out alternative sources of revenue to achieve district goals.
